What This Is

A LONG MOUNTAIN DAY, HANDLED HONESTLY.

Mt. Rainier is 80 miles southeast of Seattle, but the drive feels longer — winding mountain roads, switchback ascents, weather that shifts by the thousand feet of elevation. Doing it in a rental car is exhausting. Doing it on a shared 14-person bus tour means stopping where the group stops, on the group’s schedule.

Private transportation solves both. Our full-day tours are built around how much time you want in the park, not how many people we can pack into a coach. You ride together. You stop where you want. You leave when you’re ready. The driving — including the white-knuckle switchback section above 4,000 feet — is ours.

A note on what we don't do

We are not a guided naturalist tour. Your driver does not provide trail-leading, geology commentary, or wildlife interpretation. Park rangers offer free guided talks at Paradise and Longmire. If you want a guided hike or naturalist-led day, we recommend pairing our transportation with a Mt. Rainier guide service — several Seattle-based naturalist guides will ride along with us at no extra transportation cost.
Park Areas & Seasonal Access

WHAT'S ACCESSIBLE WHEN YOU GO.

Mt. Rainier's seasons matter more than any other park near Seattle. Sunrise (the highest road in the park) is closed roughly two-thirds of the year. Paradise stays open year-round but has limited access in deep winter. Here's what each major area offers, and when.

Why Seattle Shuttle

A LONG DAY DONE HONESTLY AND WELL.

Mt. Rainier is a long mountain day — 10 hours of driving, mountain weather, and a route that takes
preparation. Here’s why our customers choose private transportation over rental cars and shared bus tours.
No driving the switchbacks yourself

The road from Longmire to Paradise climbs 2,700 feet in winding switchbacks. Driving it tense ruins the day for the driver. Our drivers have done this route hundreds of times in summer sun and winter snow. You watch the views; we handle the wheel.

No fixed group, no fixed schedule

Shared bus tours leave when the group leaves and stop where the group stops. Want 90 minutes at Paradise instead of 45? Want to skip Reflection Lake and add Tipsoo? On a private tour, you decide in real time. The driver makes it work.

Real cruise terminal experience

We've moved hundreds of Alaska cruise passengers through Mt. Rainier as pre-tours and post-tours since 2009. Pier coordination, luggage handling, terminal timing — we do it weekly. Most general tour operators don't pick up at the pier. We do.

Honest seasonal advice

If Sunrise is closed by snow on your tour date, we tell you that before you book — not when you arrive at the gate. If Paradise has limited access in March, we set expectations for what you'll see. Some operators promise the full park year-round. We tell you the truth.

Mt. Rainier Tour FAQ

QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR
TOUR,
ANSWERED.

The eight most common questions from cruise passengers, families,
photographers, and group leaders. If you don't see yours, call 206-SHUTTLE.
Is this a guided tour or just transportation?

This is private transportation to and from Mt. Rainier National Park — not a guided tour. Your professional driver handles the long mountain drive, parking, timing, and seasonal routing. You explore the park on your own at each stop. National Park Service rangers offer free guided talks at the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center and Longmire which are excellent.

How long is a Mt. Rainier tour?

A standard tour is 10 hours door-to-door from Seattle: roughly 2.5 hours each way to the entrance, plus 4 to 5 hours inside the park. We offer 8-hour (best for winter), 10-hour (Classic), and 12-hour (includes Sunrise) packages. Cruise terminal pickups add about 30 to 45 minutes.

What does a Mt. Rainier tour cost?

Pricing starts at $880 for an 8-hour SUV tour (up to 6 passengers). Our popular 10-hour Classic SUV tour is $1,100. For larger groups, a 10-hour Sprinter (up to 14 pax) is $1,650, and 24-passenger coach options start at $2,650. Park fees, food, and gratuity are not included.

Can you pick up from the cruise terminal?

Yes. We provide pickup directly from Pier 91 and Pier 66, all downtown Seattle hotels, and SeaTac Airport. Pre-tour pickups usually begin at 7 AM with luggage handling included. Post-cruise tours include final drop-off at SeaTac or your post-cruise hotel.

What's the best time of year for a Mt. Rainier tour?

Late June through September is peak season for wildflowers and access to Sunrise. Late September brings golden larches. From November through May, tours focus on Longmire and lower-elevation snow play as many upper roads like Sunrise close entirely due to snow.

Do we get out and hike, or stay in the vehicle?

Most tours include 3 to 4 walking stops at viewpoints like Reflection Lake and Narada Falls. These range from quick photos to 20-minute paved walks. We include 60-90 minutes at Paradise for exploration. If your group wants a specific 2-3 hour hike, we can build the schedule around it on longer packages.

What if the weather is bad on our tour date?

Light rain or clouds usually permit a full tour with reduced views. Your driver receives real-time park condition updates and adapts the route to maximize visibility. We have a 48-hour notice policy for full refunds; same-day cancellations due to weather are assessed case-by-case.

Are park entrance fees included?

No. The entrance fee is $30 per vehicle (2026 rates), paid at the gate. If anyone in your group has an America the Beautiful or Senior pass, it covers the vehicle entry—just bring it along. Your driver can also pay and bill you at the end of the tour.
